Roger Ewart Smith is a Managing Director and Head of Mining in London. Roger has worked at Rothschild for over 26 years focussing on the mining and natural resources sector. He has worked on a wide range of transactions encompassing mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings and restructurings. Recent mandates include advising ARMS (formerly Bumi) on its separation from the Bakrie Group, advising the Government of Kazakhstan on the take private of ENRC and advising on the $2.2bn of the Husab uranium project to China General Nuclear. He has extensive experience of advising on the structuring and funding of natural resource projects in emerging markets and is currently advising Rio Tinto in relation to the $15bn Oyu Tolgoi project in Mongolia. He also advised Tullow on structuring and financing Kudu.
